What EUDR asks for
A location for the plot — and a clean deforestation check
Under the EUDR, the company that first sells natural rubber into the EU has to record where each production plot is and show the land wasn't deforested after 2020. That request flows down the chain, so importers and processors are already asking suppliers for plot coordinates. How much detail depends on the plot's size:
Smallholding — one point
4 hectares or less can be a single GPS point (WGS-84, at least 6 decimals).
Estate — a boundary
Over 4 hectares needs a polygon tracing the plot's outline. The tool draws it for you.

Rubber & the EUDR
Estate and smallholder, through some of the longest chains in scope
Natural rubber reaches the EU through some of the longest, most-blended supply chains of any EUDR commodity. A single lot can pool a handful of large estates with countless smallholdings — most of them a hectare or two — bought up and mixed by village dealers and processors long before the material ever leaves the origin. By the time it reaches a European buyer, the trail back to each production plot has passed through many hands, and reconstructing it plot-by-plot is the hard part of getting rubber ready to file.
The regulation doesn't stop at raw natural rubber, either. Scope reaches tyres and other rubber-derived products, so it isn't only latex and sheet exporters who have to answer for geolocation — it's everyone placing a rubber-containing good on the EU market. And because plot data is collected by so many different hands, it arrives in every format and quality you can imagine: spreadsheets, hand-typed coordinates, KML from one dealer and GeoJSON from the next. One malformed or mislabelled plot — swapped lat/long, too few decimals, an unclosed boundary — can hold up an entire consignment's submission, however clean the rest of the file is.

Common questions
Rubber EUDR questions, answered plainly
Does a certification scheme mean I'm covered?
Not on its own. Certification can support your risk assessment, but the EUDR has no certification safe-harbour — the operator must still collect plot coordinates, run the deforestation and legality checks, and file the statement. The legal responsibility stays with the operator.
A point or a boundary for a rubber plot?
Plots over 4 hectares need a polygon boundary; 4 hectares or under can be a single point. Estates are usually polygons, smallholdings often points. Coordinates must be WGS-84 (EPSG:4326) with at least six decimal places — this tool checks the rule against each plot's area automatically.
We buy through dealers who mix many sources — how does that work?
Each production plot in the consignment needs its own geolocation. When material is aggregated through dealers, the plot set is submitted together and a single malformed plot can cause the whole file to be rejected — so validating before filing is worth the minute it takes.
Is a clear result an official compliance approval?
No. It's a screening signal with the sources it used shown in full — not a certification, legal opinion, guarantee, or a signed statement. The legality assessment and your own risk assessment stay separate obligations.
